When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, right? How about when life is too busy to give you anything at all? We’ve all been there, work is hectic, family and friends and trying to get a few minutes of your time; not to mention the daily struggles and worries of modern-day living.

Luckily, there are lot of things you can do to keep your optimism levels up, as you take on the challenges of adulthood. Here are Teatox’s five-minute recipes for having a smile on your face daily:

Learn Something New

Since time is of the essence, we are not going to recommend that you specialize yourself in a whole new field in just a day, so don’t worry! We are talking about those little things that make you smile when you realize you did not knew them until now. When was the last time you learned something new? when was the last time you did something for the first time? Whether you give yourself five minutes a day to learn a few words into a new language, read an article about a subject that interests you, or simply learn to cook a new dish, these new experiences will bring joy into your life and keep a smile on your face.

Organize Something

The cluster of our busy lives is one of the reasons we are sometimes sad or even depressed, so take five minutes daily to organize a little part of your home or work, in order to make your life easier and have time for other things. Clean up your desk, put your books into a different order, arrange your movies by categories or your jewelry by color; whatever it is, it will keep you busy and smiling.

Travel

Can't really do that in just five minutes, can you? Luckily, our mind is a wonderful mechanism and there is nothing you can't do if you put your imagination to the test. Close your eyes and think about your favorite vacation spot, or take a few minutes to watch footage from a beautiful place you never visited and imagine yourself going there.

Eat Healthy

We’re cheating a little with this one, but who says that you can’t make yourself a healthy treat daily in under five minutes? If improving your eating habits is on this year’s resolutions’ list, give yourself five minutes and work on accomplishing it. It will not only have you smiling each daily, but it will also offer you a wonderful feeling of accomplishment once you get there.

Meditate

What better than meditation to help you distance yourself from your daily troubles and keep you serene and smiling? In the office or at home, take five minutes out of your busy schedule and meditate. Just be careful not to fall into the trap of bad thoughts, there is still enough time for those, meditating is about being calm and letting your mind and body rest.

Simply Smile!

Have you heard of laughter therapy? People from all over the world are practicing it and the results are astonishing. Make a habit out of smiling more and take five minutes daily to just laugh. If you are a bit shy and can’t do it as a group therapy, or you simple don’t have the time for it, five minutes at home are more than enough.

Life does not always demand smiles from us, but in order to keep your mind healthy and functioning properly, a peaceful soul and a smiling face are essential, which is why we need to take matters into our own hands, and not always count on serendipity.

Have you smiled today?
